- Listed by year recorded ... most release dates are later.
- Catalog numbers shown are for CDs only. LPs and cassettes
exist for some titles.
NOTE:
Many of the mid-'80s Jaco performances were released in the '90s and this decade
as "bootlegs" - meaning illegitimately, usually overseas (Japan, Germany), and
without regard for Jaco's family or other musicians performing. Some are haphazard
musical performances, and some are poorly recorded. Some offer fresh material,
but some are simply re-hashed mid-'80s renditions of the same songs. Please
read the discography section in Milkowski's "Jaco" book for important thoughts
on this.
Please don't buy bootleg recordings as new CDs. By doing so, you are
supporting an industry which exploits Jaco, Jimi Hendrix, Charlie Parker, and
other greats who aren't around to defend themselves and protect their music.
Look for the bootlegs as used CDs and CDRs.
In addition to the ethical considerations, some of these
bootlegs are of poor sound quality and production, and sometimes less than stellar
musicianship.
